Mr. Mthoko Ngidi

Chairperson of the Board

Mthoko Ngidi is a dynamic Executive Director with over 19 years of experience across multiple industries, including automotive, services, economic development, mining, and renewable energy. He has a proven track record in strategy formulation, capital raising, project execution, and stakeholder management.

As Project Director at Aventro, he led the R12 billion Redstone CSP project, ensuring compliance, stakeholder engagement, and economic development implementation.

Previously, he was Deputy CEO at China African Precious Metals, where he played a key role in acquisition, capital raising, and recommissioning projects.

His experience also includes driving local economic development at Enterprise Ilembe, managing large-scale workforce solutions at Transnet Port Terminals, and excelling in sales leadership in the automotive sector. With expertise in project management, operations, and trade union negotiations, he is highly skilled in executing complex projects and fostering strong partnerships across industries.

Ms. Lally Dladla

Executive

Lally Dladla is a seasoned and visionary leader with over 20 years of executive experience in government entities, where she specialized in trade, investment, and economic development. She holds a robust academic background with qualifications in International Marketing Management (IMM), International Business (UNISA), Economics (WITS), Trade and Investment (UKZN), Project Management, and Construction Management (UCT).

 

Currently serving as the Director General and board member of TruMD, Lally brings a wealth of expertise in strategic marketing and investment to the healthcare sector. Her leadership is instrumental in guiding TruMD’s expansion and transformation into a premier provider of accessible, innovative telehealth solutions across South Africa and beyond.

In her role, she is committed to driving the organization to greater heights by implementing sound governance, fiscal responsibility, and performance-driven management systems. Her objectives for the organization are clear and crucial: to strengthen operational efficiency, expand national outreach, build strategic partnerships, and ensure equitable healthcare access for underserved communities.

Lally’s proven ability to lead high-impact projects, foster international trade relations, and implement strategic frameworks positions her as a catalyst for organizational growth and sustainability. Her leadership style is rooted in accountability, innovation, and collaboration—key traits that enable her to deliver results while mentoring teams and shaping a resilient, forward-looking corporate culture.

Dr Gulam Karim

Executive

Dr. Gulam Karim is an accomplished health policy, planning, and economics expert with over 30 years of experience in healthcare consulting. He holds an M.D. from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and has worked with major organizations like PwC, KPMG, and 98 Degrees Group, specializing in procurement, supply management, and health economics.

Dr. Gulam has led high-profile projects in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, including hospital design and health system planning.

He has also held key roles, such as Deputy-Director General for Health in Mpumalanga, and has been instrumental in the development of several private hospitals across Southern Africa.

Currently, he serves as the Medical Director at TruMD, where he focuses on telehealth initiatives and the development of healthcare solutions. Dr. Gulam is also a member of the Health Professionals Council of South Africa and continues to influence healthcare systems globally through strategic planning and innovative solutions.

Mr. Samer Sader

Executive

Samer Sader is a highly accomplished insurance professional with over 30 years of experience in the industry. As the Chairman and founder of the 98 Degrees Group, he has played a pivotal role in shaping innovative insurance and healthcare solutions across multiple markets.

A BCom graduate from Wits with an Hdip Tax from RAU, Samer has built a reputation for his strategic leadership, financial expertise, and deep industry insight. His ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and implement forward-thinking strategies has positioned him as a trusted leader in the field.

Currently, Samer serves as the Chairman of both TruMD and 98 Degrees Group, where he continues to drive innovation and digital transformation in the insurance and healthcare sectors. Under his leadership, these organizations are redefining the way insurance, healthcare access, and financial services are delivered, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and enhanced customer experiences.

With a keen focus on technology-driven solutions, Samer remains committed to revolutionizing healthcare accessibility and insurance models, making a lasting impact on the industry.

Prof Jacques Snyman

Non-Executive

Professor Jacques Snyman is a leading expert in Clinical Pharmacology with over 80 peer-reviewed publications. He has held significant academic and industry roles, including Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Pretoria and CEO of ICON Oncology. He serves as Director at Agility Holdings Pty Ltd and Agility Risk Solutions.

Prof. Snyman is the Chair of the South African Medical Association Research Ethics Committee and a past president of the ISPOR South African Chapter. He also holds directorships in DermaV Pharmaceuticals and Absorbatox Pharma.

His research focuses on inflammation, immune modulation, and clinical trial design, and he is actively involved in medical governance and editorial roles, including as Editor of MIMS Monthly and on the editorial board of Therapeutic Drugs.

Renowned for his expertise in clinical trial design and managed care solutions, Prof. Snyman continues to shape the medical insurance and healthcare landscape through innovative research and strategic leadership.

Dr. Dino Rech

Non-Executive

Dr. Dino Rech is a medical doctor and recognized global health leader known for combining frontline clinical expertise with scalable, tech-enabled solutions to improve healthcare for underserved communities. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Audere, a Seattle-based nonprofit that advances health equity by expanding access to diagnostics through innovative digital tools and AI-driven platforms. Under his leadership, Audere’s team leverages smartphone technology, computer vision, and machine learning to deliver cutting-edge diagnostic solutions in low-resource settings worldwide.

With a background in clinical medicine, Dr. Rech has spearheaded large-scale public health initiatives across Africa – from HIV prevention and TB treatment programs to maternal and child health interventions. As Founder and CEO of the Centre for HIV & AIDS Prevention Studies (CHAPS), he implemented high-impact HIV prevention, education, and testing services that reached over 500,000 people. He also served as Group Director and Regional COO at The Aurum Institute, where he oversaw one of South Africa’s largest HIV care and treatment programs and contributed to innovations in TB care (Aurum is a leading organization combating HIV/TB). His innovative, impact-driven approach in these roles ensured that clinical research findings were translated into scalable solutions for communities in need.

Dr. Rech continues to champion technology-enabled healthcare in advisory roles. He is currently a non-executive board member and advisor to truMD, a leading Southern African telemedicine company, where he helps guide the expansion of virtual medical services to underserved populations. Across all his endeavors, Dr. Rech’s focus remains on marrying clinical insight with innovation to deliver equitable healthcare solutions and improve outcomes for vulnerable communities.

Mr. Mark Peters

Convener 

Mark Peters is a seasoned academic, chartered marketer, business leader, and strategy consultant with over 40 years of experience in banking, executive education, and corporate governance. He began his career as a commercial banker in Ireland before receiving a Ford Foundation grant to research small business financing across 12 countries.

He has held leadership roles at Wits Business School, IMM, Henley Management College, and The Graduate Institute of Management and Technology, specializing in strategy, marketing, and executive education. 

In 2012, he launched his own strategy facilitation business and currently teaches at GSB MBA and UFS Business School.

Mark has served on multiple corporate and non-profit boards, contributed to director development with the IOD, and worked alongside Professor Mervyn King on governance initiatives. An award-winning educator, he holds an MBA with Distinction, multiple business diplomas, and an IEDP from London Business School.

Mr. Travis Hoey

As the Group Head of Legal at 98 Degrees, Travis Hoey is a seasoned corporate law specialist with a proven track record in legal governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic risk management. Armed with an LLB and extensive experience in high-stakes legal advisory, he plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the company operates within a robust and future-proof legal framework. His expertise spans corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and contractual negotiations, enabling him to navigate complex legal landscapes with precision.

With a keen eye for risk mitigation and business-driven legal solutions, Travis is a trusted advisor who aligns legal strategy with the group’s long-term growth and success.
